For the “taste buds”:
Don’t forget to taste the beef stew “Bourguignon”, the famous snails, "saucissons au four briochés" and the typical cheese, all accompanied with an excellent red wine!
In order to discover historical Lyon, walk along the Vieux Lyon and the area of Croix Rousse, and you will get lost in the labyrinth of “Traboules”, the passages that cross to isolate you, connect the numerous narrow lanes and allow you to access the magnificent inner courtyards of the buildings.
The heart of modern Lyon is the peninsula, carefully laid down between the Saona and the Rodano, with its beautiful buildings, elegant streets and public squares bejewelled in original fountains, the most famous of these being that of the Place du Terroir.
It is here that Lyon offers the richest calendar of cultural and artistic events, thanks to the numerous theatres, the opera, and the Museum of Fine Arts with its programme comparable to those of the great museums of Europe.
- The cathedral of Notre Dame de La Fourvière, pride of Lyon, with its exuberant ornament in mosaics, marble and gold
- The roman amphitheatres, with the adjoining museum of Gallic-Roman history
- The ateliers of the Silk masters
- The house-museum of the Lumière brothers (the birthplace of the cinema!)
- An unusual journey? Immerse yourself in the bizarre Tour of the Murals, in order to admire these particular and individual works of art scattered along on the walls of the city.
- For a trip in the open: dedicate one day to the wonderful park of the Tete d' Or, with its small lake, botanical garden, romantic rose garden, and a zoo for the youngsters to enjoy.
